All

There seems to be a major problem (if anyone has noticed!!!) with our previous guestbook. The problem being it won't work. I must say now that it was nothing to do with me before I get slaughtered for wrecking it. However, I have set this new one up which will do the same, if not better job. I will leave the other guestbook on for now but id the problem is major I will delete it and we shall have the new one only.

This new guestbook does not include email addresses underneath who is posting. I suggest if people want that included for a response then put it in the body of your message.

Hi Mal, I too noticed the problem with the old guest book. If you right click on it, then click on 'open link' it usually works.
Try it.

This is the new guestbook as the Internet boffons tell mr the old one is "cattle trucked". I am unaware of the terminology but I suspect it is nackered! I hope this new one gets the same amount of visits with the usual high quality debate.

I can see that being a problem so I suggest you run a day long seminar for club members. In which you can divulge all the knowledge at your disposal about the t'internet? I certainly would pay to hear you speak!!! Come to think of it can we charge and it become a fund raiser?!?!?!?!

I am also at a loss as I have still to hear the reasons for Scott's decision. It is a wake up call to the club that perhaps we should not treat our youngsters with kid gloves, especially when they reach the age or ability for any of the Saturday sides. For too long us old fuddy duddies have carried the youngsters on our backs , they need to understand the meaning of friendship, being part of a team means just that, getting involved in doing jobs around the club taking on responsability, putting something back in to compensate for the hours of free tuition and fund raising carried out for their benefit. As regards the club's youth policy, I will have you know Mr Newcombe that my pot belly is in training for the new season, three sessions a week, five pints a time. Let's hope that those who decide to stick around and play for our great club will benefit from the opportunites now presented to them as a result of the new vacancies.

David.I understand fully your frustrations expressed but I'm surprised that you don't seem to be able to take on board that if someone is unhappy then a move is the predictable result. It was very clear to me that Andrew was very unhappy last season both on and off the field. As an ex pupil of mine-therefore I feel I am in a position to respond- I have been very surprised that he has not moved on in terms of the quality of his performances-but I remain extremely confident that a change of scene will do him the world of good.Personally, I wish him all the very best and would hope that if he ever wished to return to ACC he would be made very welcome.I do not feel able to comment about Scott's decision-it's the first I've heard of it-but again if he feels he's going to be happier playing where he's going to play, fair dinkum and again I wish him all the very best. I would far prefer it if both were to remain at Ainsdale but I very much respect their decisions. I will add however that I do not like the way that" some" verbally abuse and disrespect impressionable young men. Personally, I love the abuse I receive!!Others prefer the arm around the shoulder treatment. It's called man management I believe. If anyone can explain to me-and preferably off forum so as to prevent this topic escalating-as to why Andrew was kept in the first team when it was obvious that a decent run in the second team would have worked wonders,I would be very interested.Again ,I probably do not possess all the facts and my apologies if I have stepped on anyone's toes. However,we have a duty to the young players in our Club to respect them so that they, in turn ,respect us.That is the only thing they owe us.
"Man is free but everywhere in chains".

(Further cont!! )My understanding is that Lancs put no pressure at all on Richard to play at a higher standard of cricket.Again apologies if I misheard the story as it was related but it was Richard's decision not Lancs.Over to RS. Personally, I would prefer Richard to take 70 wickets at 9.73 than 30 at 25 at THIS STAGE of his cricketing career.

That's what I said Richard.!! It was your decision not Lancs.I have no problem at all with your decision. I've wished you all the very best and you know you'd be very welcome to return at any time. Matty. It's exactly that sort of arrogant attitude and comment you've used that I refered to in my previous post. Banter is good and healthy but we are banging our collective heads against a wall. The players have left, so let's wish them luck and move on. We are entering a new phase in the History of the club with a vibrant section, new people helping to raise money and a fresh season around the corner. Let's forget about this and march forward. Also as Ian Lucas pointed out last night we need to be an attractive proposistion for would be sponsors so we must be united

Sorry gentlemen if anything I wrote in my last post was out of order. I didn't realise,if I had I wouldn't of wrote it. Sorry again guys!

I believe it's a good thing for Richard hopefully he learns alot and improves as a player and as a man. I know he's done alot for my game over the years and sometimes it's just time to move on. I wish him luck in his new team and I hope he comes back down the club some time!

I think Scotty will soon realise Fleetwood is not in Ainsdale's league at all and eventually regret his decision but you have to keep in mind he has friends there from school and perhaps that created his desire to go there? He won't be playing 1st team there thou!

Ainsdale is a great club and I have no question that it has developed my game leaps and bounds and I am very grateful for that.

Hopefully I will show my thanks on the pitch with a nice 5 wicket haul on the first day of the season Can't wait!!!!

See you Sunday x

Carl Williams has gone to an awful lot of trouble to arrange a '40s Night' at the club on Saturday the 6th of March. Tickets are available from Carl or behind the bar at £10 each and includes supper.
ALL PROCEEDS ARE IN AID OF YOUR OWN CRICKET SECTION.
As yet, nobody from your section has bought a ticket.
PLEASE SUPPORT IT, AND LET'S HAVE A GOOD NIGHT.
It's no good winging about being short of funds if you don't support fundraisers like this.

Maybe it's Celebrity Supermarket Sweep?

With the mystery Celebrity (I suggest Mr Holding) going head-to-head with the world record trolley dasher.....Norman Owers, with his array of supermarker 'sweeps'?!?!

When Norm shops at Asda, he is a good sweeper.........but when he gets his Tesco game going.....he is a very very good (exceptional) sweeper.

And keep your eyes open for the 'switch-sweep' shot, which involves attacking the alcohol aisle direct from the Fruit & Veg.

Whitley Bay FC go into their third successive FA Vase semi final hoping their experience of the big occasion will give them an edge over Barwell.

Barwell have had a hugely impressive season, losing only twice, both in cup competitions. They warmed up for this game with a 5-2 win at Malvern on Tuesday night in front of just 28 people. Tomorrows attendance could break 4 figures.

Bay will have to mute top goal scorer Adam Cunnington who has 30 goals this season.

Smoulty in his Ainsdale Reserves hay-day would have no problem stopping such force! Nothing got past the Black & White strips of Geoff....and when it did, Wentworth Close John Mayers was there to clear it into the gardens!

And so it has happened. Not with a valedictory double century off 85 balls, not with successive sixes to a variety of sweep shots, not with a match winning fiverfer on a wicket offering gentle turn.
Instead, a simple text "NO NOT PLAYING".
Enjoy your retirement Legend and remember it is not an irreversible decision.

Team is up happy days, see you Saturday Dave i'm availible.

I'm ready to go that email sounded like a realistic objective as well.

Dave, a good target to aim for and I will try my best to ensure it does happen!

I didn't like the fact there was no sign of batting aims in it ?

I'm thinking at least 200 runs batting above 11 haha!

Due to the comments made by an unnamed person about our beloved Sir Geoffrey there is now a delay on all postings to the guestbook. I hope this is ok with everyone, however as i'm in control of it you aint got much choice. The guestbook is for good honest and open debate not a forum for personal attacks. On a cricketing front there is a net session tonight so as many down as possible would be much appreciated by all the captains.

Dear Edward

I would not dream of slandering Sir Geoffrey. He is producing wickets to aid my bowling and batting this season so to have a pop at his Lordship would be foolhardy at the very least. Your search goes on my friend for the culprit. I'm sure its possible to track the perpetrator down but to do that needs knowledge of computers and sadly I ma not capable of such a feat. Further to Tony (Norbury's) post regarding subs. The cut off date is actually the 15th of May, not the end of May.
This was again brought up by a few of the members at the AGM for the second successive year.
They told management in no uncertain terms that we had to rigidly enforce the rule "no pay no play, by 15th of May". This applies to all sections, also non paying social members will not be allowed in after that date. Sorry chaps, but that's the way it is.

Never underestimate the tremendous work done by Keith. It has made producing a nice looking square very easy. As to how it plays is down to those who have not been seen to lift a finger to help!!Ironic isn't it?? Show me a cricketer who knows how to produce a good square and I'll show you a man who is both generous and well balanced!! By the way!! I know who my number one fan is!! Fairly obvious when you think about it logically. Time is a great healer.I hold no grudges. Life is too short. All the best to everyone on Saturday both young and old.

The smell of new cut grass has awakend the cricketing spirit, but please do not let us get too intoxicated, the old problems still persist. As Sir Geoff points out, how much time have you put into the club so far, I have counted about 5 people who have rolled the wicket this week and yet will expect it to be ready for the weekend if not the season. The much needed fundraising event this Saturday morning has attracted a dismal response from any cricketing member over the age of 15yrs, netting is one thing putting something back into the club is another. Edward regarding the insider betting scandle that you referred to, my old mother always warned my about losing my shirt on an 'Old Nag'

Hi all

Never totally sure how many of our members regularly view this guest book although given the reaction from some sources to my BARLOW / Scott posting ( sincere, honest, factual but deleted ) I suggest that its a higher number than those who contribute.

Not everyone will be aware yet but the club is in the midst of a player crisis. The simple mathematics of this are that 5 players of first and second team standard have left over the winter and only 1 has, to date, come in. Last weekend papered over the cracks although Kenny Riley's rather youthful 3rd team on Sunday gave a worrying insight. This week the reality is there for all to see.

Mal is banned for a week under ridiculous circumstances, tommo is away and the pro and ste lucas are, as yet unavailable. This only equates to 4 players down however, hardly uncommon from July onwards when we reach the holiday season.
A result of this means there are no less than 7 players in the first team who have never hit a first team 50 as a bat or four for or better as a bowler.
The second team currently has 8 names down including 3 players who relied upon heavy painkillers to get them through Saturdays game. Of course I will take a full side to Northop Hall but now is the time to try and turn things around.

There are numerous people around the club who have "retired" or are "currently unavailable". I strongly urge them to support their club in our current time of need and urge members to try and persuade them to help out, if only in the short term.
I also want the younger lads to try and recruit for us from their own social base. Now is a fantastic time for any young player to join, and progress with, this brilliant cricket club.

From Lionel, Ray and Ian I realise that there are several "talents" coming through but that they are probably a couple of years away from at least 2nd XI level. Our job MUST be to ensure that the club is still playing at an acceptable level when their time comes.

NORMAN
MARK
MITCH
STE CROPS
HALLY
MACCAM

Your phones will be ringing tomorrow. Don't let me down!

This guest book is only one of a few mediums I will use to try and improve our position. Anyone else's assistance would be massively appreciated.

The countdown clock on the homepage Mal

I think a youthful 3rd may not be the worst thing, the only problem is you need adults to back the kids up and some arn't keen on the idea of playing with mainly kids. Very understandable to be fair.

The Under 18's played well on Monday night. Some good performances from young players which is good for the club. I would like to thanks the likes of Andy Davis and Sam Lucas who backed us up in a time of need. They may not of had much of a game but next time when we are in more of a commanding position i'm sure they will have a good game!
Thanks again it's only good for your game!

On the subject of retired players.

When i told Kyle last night that the reason Norman Owers and his son were missing was because Norman has retired he said" that he would miss him, he was a great person to bat with. He encourage`s and helps, do`s not critisize but tells you what you could do a little different to improve something. The games he played with him last year he really enjoyed, he say`s he is`nt a selfish player and would sometimes even retire when not out so that himself and the Rigby brothers could get a chance to bat. "

That to me sounds like someone who is needed, and will be missed. You carn`t buy experience.

James, a youthful 3rd xi may indeed be "not be the worst thing" if the youth were of an age where they could press under achievers in the 2nd xi. As it is, poor Lionel is again chaperone / captain to a group of 12 and 13 year olds who may prove to be highly talented but sadly will take some serious gubbings along the way. Poor them, poor Lionel!

This weekends re-jigged 2nd xi is;

Newcombe
Bolton
Fazakerley E
Causey M
Fitzpatrick
Pearce
Owers N - wkt
Amer

Barlow J
Marshall K

David. I know it's of no consolation at all but this is not just an Ainsdale problem.Northop Hall1's turned out with 10 men on Saturday. In the 2's St Helens Recs,Prestatyn and Rainford all conceded and some of the results over 45 overs were horrendous,a number of teams losing by well over 200 runs in a 45 over game.If you talk to Lionel, you'll soon realise that turning out 4 sides this season, particularly in examination time,is going to be a virtual impossibility.
The after nets meeting tonight is such an essential part of our season and I trust that the room is bursting at the seams but I won't be holding my breath!!The small band of people who do things for our wonderful club is at bursting point.I appeal to everyone to volunteer to get more involved with the section otherwise we won't simply be worrying about turning out sides.
David. You know why your post was removed!! Read Clubmark's Code Of Conduct!! P. S. I'm sure I saw S. C. on the square at S and B last Sat. If you don't know that....well !!
So!!Summing up!! To all readers!!Yes!! Even my number 1 fan who I know attends the Club regularly.Look that little bit further than your own personal needs and give us some of your time. Otherwise the "To our Childrens Childrens Children"statement will eventually cease to be a cause of concern.

Fantastic win for the 2nds on Saturday at Northop.......at 19 for 6, things looked very bleak (sorry skipper, some poor shots!!)........until Bolts (55), Joel (40*) and Newcs (126), wow top knock!.....took the total to 278-8 off 45.

In reply.....Northop looked dangerous at 102 without loss.....until Kyle, Mikey, Joel and Joey did the business for us, with some fine bowling......well done the youngsters!

PS, a well improved fielding display by the team, including some 'shelling peas' and 'legend glove (and pad...aka 'thud'!) work' !!!

Keep the spirits up all, we as a Club can continue to achieve great things.

At the end of the day the Captain's select there team to give them what they feel is there best chance of success. You are a hugely talented cricketer and playing for the 3rd's is by no means a reflection on your ability. Instead it is a way of getting you to bowl more and more overs to get your rhytham. all bowlers need this regardless of how good they are. I've no doubt you will do well and be back in a higher team next week. Take this as an opportunity to showcase your undoubted talents. Good luck

Geoff,
I have not been spoken to over the matter and to be honest if I do get a reason it won't be until the weekend anyway understandably. I have alot of respect for Dave and even if he doesn't have a encouraging chat with me, that respect won't be damaged.

The big problem there is for me is that I don't get a bat to show anyone I can. This means if I bowl badly, which undoubtly i have been, there is nothing else backing me up.

There are other all rounders who are also certainly guranteed a place every week. I'm not arguing that though as they are talented cricketers.

I'll get my bowling boots on for Sunday and show what i'm made off.

James,
I did try to call you on Wednesday but to no avail so decided to leave any chat till the weekend. I don't believe in airing these things on Facebook, message boards or even by text as the intent behind the words can get lost.

It is a the fact that there is healthy, in some cases performance driven, competition for places this weekend and its set to get more intense over the next couple of weeks.
What we need to get over as a whole club is that playing for the 3's in the 3rd xi Premier division is not akin to deportation to Siberia.

The Play-cricket website doesn't have them in the League Registered Players list. You need to check with the club/league to see who is registered.

A league registration form shouldn't have anything about bowling style either. If they are registered you'll need to email the league about their Play-cricket site.

Dear All, just a few points from last nights management meeting for you to digest and act upon.
Could all members remover their kit bags from the changing rooms after each game. The number of games has now increased dramatically and nearly every evening juniors are playing, please respect their right to have clean changing rooms. After each game will captains/managers ensure that equipment is put away and the sightscreens moved, square roped off it is not too much to ask as other people are preparing the wicket for us and if we do not assist then you may have to do the work yourselves if people become a bit hacked off with the lack of support.
Subs are now due and club levy must be paid to the main club by 15th May, bills still need to be paid so lets have them in along with outstanding ball sponsorship and shirt monies please.

Then it will give you a few permeatations like Kyle Marshall, K. Marshall, K Marshall just match them up and it will either sort out straight away or max 24 hours.

I must admit i did suspect he may be a tad older. However, it just goes to show that alongside a good junior programme you must have an equally good OAP programme. You only have to look at Norm to see that old age is no barrier to geniune class. With regards to the missing trousers issue it could be the onset of alzheimer's or a fiendish prank by a certain younger seam bowler to try and get some overs in!

To those first teamers who tap into this site please remember Ian's post match words from Monday and pick up the standards at weekly practice.
I would also add that quality of practice is vital. Whats the point of netting and hitting reverse sweeps, one handed shots, Dil scoops etc. or even an alternative form of bowling if thats not what you do on a Saturday?

I'm still hurting after Monday - I really hope everyone else is.

If losing doesn't matter then neither does winning!

Our season is not over after one mauling but it is a worry that we crumble the first time we are under serious pressure and the top order fails.
The time to sort it starts Saturday.

2) Square work, Sir Geoffrey has put in a great deal of work as we can all see, however rolling the wicket is just as important as cutting it, hence is is the responsability of the team playing on that strip to roll it, if you do not then do not complain.
3) Fund Raising, we still need to look after our finances, hence support for future events is vital. on that note, if you have any old mobile phones lying about please let me have them, we can sell them on in bulk and raise funds for the section.

Great effort from Mal to organise the six a side tournament today. Great fun some great moment's, Josh Earl's spectacular catch, proving he's already better than his dad! Joe Damon being cleaned up by Budgie and big Inzy being boarderline tired after a "quickly run" two. A few bob in the kitty into the bargain. Cheers Mal.

It is with regret that I have to advise members past and present of the sad loss of my past father in law Capt John Roberts.John was a good man who took an interest in the cricket club over a number of years, from when his son Nick first played junior cricket with the likes of Keith Ball,Andy Newcombe and Jared Earl.John was well known to other such members as Dave Newcombe,Mark Causey,Tony Norbury and Matthew etc.John also did a bit of umpiring for us but the less said about that the better ! Him and Cyril would have made a great pairing !
John's funeral will take place at Southport crem on Wednesday 23rd June 2010 Should any members wish to pay there last respects then please contact myself on 0796 6092757 for further details.

Sorry once again last weeks score sheet is already locked so your Anthony gets your figure`s again. His name is before yours on the pick list so away teams inputting results must just be seeing A Rigby and not checking the score card when complete, as it then shows as Anthony not Alex.At that point they can still change it but not once it`s locked.

Poor run Edward??!! We were magnificent on Saturday and in a boxing match ,the referee would have stopped the fight!! After 9 defeats, 1 conceded ,1 abandoned, the boys did Ainsdale C C proud. One observation however!!If players committed themselves to playing week in week out, I think you'd find performances would improve. I've met more Juniors in the 3's this season, than some players have scored runs!!

Ed in response to your post, having now has the opportunity to watch things from the side lines then it is apparent that bowlers are not performing as they have done in recent years, hence at nets bowlers need to identify the area of line and length in the nets and then go back to basics and concentrate on hitting the spot regularly, this will translate into the match by stifling the batsmen in their scoring opportunities.
Batsmen need to see they are regularly getting otu to a specific shot snd then practice this in the nets, also get the bowling machine out and practice specific shots( qualified coach needs to oversee this ) it's not hard just application and HARD work

Come on chaps lets make things happen

There are still members of the section who have not paid their subs, this is not acceptable and there are also members who have still to pay for their cricket shirts etc.

If members do not wish to be embarrassed at the AGM with having their identities made know as sundry debtors then I suggest they make efforts to pay their bills. Please see Tony Norbury the club treasurer.

Hi Gentlemen it is good to see that Ainsdale Cricket club is still going strong some 40 yearson after I left for South Africa. I used to play for the juniors in the early 70's and occasionally for the 2nd team if they were short. The players bought me a cricket bag when I left for South Africa for which was a nice gesture.

Good luck for the season

We stopped at 2 sides of A4!!The week before the season starts is nowhere near enough and I would recommend that volunteers need to start this Saturday 19th.Ian and I will be putting in time on Wednesday afternoons from 12 onwards. As neither of us play at home for matches now,it would be hugely encouraging to see those who do ,lending a hand and giving support ,either on a Wed or Sat or even organising your own work party.

As I scarified and scarified and scarified a bit more, just like Christine, Bomag didn't move but, every time I turned my back on her it was as if she were saying"Please come and move me and use me for the purpose I was delivered" but Geoffrey was stubborn and battled on alone on the square on which he would never play again.Time passed and the first day of the hired roller was to prove a fruitless expense. Gentleman

A new season is nearly here and our Centenary season to boot. Let's all pull in the same direction and have a season to remember. Alot of hard work has gone into the ground by Sir Geoff and Keith and player recruitment has gone well. I want nothing but success this season and I hope everyone else is focused in the same way. Let's do all we can to WIN every game we play from the juniors to the seniors (and stay within the laws of the game obviously). Good luck everybody and ENJOY

Those of you playing on the square on Saturday and Sunday may have noticed the beginnings of apparent burn marks, running from wicket to wicket,on every track. Today,it's probably a lot worse than you noticed. It is not a case of apportioning blame at this stage, rather to effect some form of damage limitation, although you will understand that I think I know exactly what has caused this very disheartening damage. The square is as bone dry as I've seen it for April and ,as rain is not forecast until at least Friday,it is essential as much watering as is possible takes place.I have watered for 3 hours today and would hope that anyone available could water at any stage between now and Thursday evening only.I have left the hose on the square.Additionally, with 4 days to playing on Saturday ,no rolling has taken place as yet . With water on the square ,this is the ideal time to do so. Strip 9 is the strip I've had to go for, given the damage. I guess the amount of watering that takes place will be a good indicator as to how bothered you are about this unfortunate state of affairs.

Dear All the Whacky Warehouse starts again next Friday 28th April, 6.30pm to 8pm every Friday evening. This is a bit money spinner for the club hence all hands must join in and help. There will be a list placed on the club notice board for you to volunteer, should work out as 1 evening every four weeks. If insufficient volunteers then the skippers of the home team the following day will be asked to nominate some of their team members. This is a club responsability and not a junior coaching one so all hands to the pumps, 6 hours over 12 weeks is not too much to ask.

It would be amiss of me to fail to record that so far the rolling programme has been very supportive of me so far.As we start with the Junior fixtures from Tuesday 26th,there will regularly be games on Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights and this is when the problems start!!If you can do an hour's rolling before Junior fixtures start at 6.30, please do so. The only thing I can guarantee you is that if the rolling decreases,so will the quality of the playing surface.
The PQS report carried out by the ECB/IOG last September, gave us a Grade 3 of 64%---2.7% away from a Grade 4. There are 5 grades.Keith and I know exactly why this is and so do you fellow members!!Keith's expertise is a fantastic resource to have at close quarters and few Clubs have that.If you simply don't have the time to offer,I know for a fact that younger members are always looking for a few hours paid work. Could you sponsor those hours and relieve your guilt at doing S F A??!!

Could anyone bring me up to date as to what is happening with the 2 sightscreens still behind the Club?? Due to their still being there, the goal posts are still out ,with the grass starting to look very untidy.

Many thanks for all the texts, emails phone calls etc congratulating me on behalf of Whitley Bay,who won the F. A. Vase for the 3rd year running at Wembley on Saturday. That's now 26 games played,23 wins and 3 draws, the best Senior team cup record of all time.

Well, Mal ,just a few secrets but are they really??!!A team spirit second to none,a togetherness,a never say die attitude,a will to win, never knowing when you're beaten,a burning desire to succeed, not the slightest sign of selfishness,a giving nature, all mixed together with no little ability. Copy that and it'll be a great season. All the very best to you all this season.
P. S. Bloody hell Tommo! Who put those sightscreens out incorrectly??

Hope you're all following the LDCC website and Phil Lovgreen's excellent article ,following Trinity's announcement they will probably return to the District League next season. For Wim's statement read it as if I'd said it "The same group of people are doing things all of the time and we can only do so much".Is there any chance those of you who haven't had the time so far, will find some spare time soon??

Fantastic shapes you're throwing their Geoff. You've managed to make it look like your hands, legs and body are all working independently against each other.
Maybe we should adopt it as a wicket celebration like Crouchy's Robot Dance.

Another great weekend of fun !
Our Chairman had me laughing big time on Saturday night. The impression he did of our Phil being taken off after a bowling spell was class, then he gave him the new nickname of Peter Stringfellow was a belter.Had to leave then as I was crying with laughter, then just before I got out,
he moved onto Normans poke antics and Donna impressions. The lad should be on Britains got talent !!

Amazed that no one has posted about the fantastic win over Hightown on Tuesday evening.I realise it takes a bit of effort to get involved-must be very tiring -but where would the energy come from to even get on to the dance floor for example and expend surplus energy??Or is it simply that such victories- and a comprehensive one at that- are now expected and we're basking in the glory of others??All done without Mighty Mal and Captain Courageous as well. So, outstanding performance guys.No relaxing tomorrow and, as ever, keep working hard.

Yep echo all those comments must be the best first team I've seen for a long time, and the seconds have started to believe in themselves and come good, third team had a better run out yesterday with Dillon Norbury being triggered by Lionel on 47, would not have happend if Cyril had been inthe middle.

Great times indeed Gentlemen, wins everywhere, Smoult dancing, Swifty's iconic pre match motivation texts, Mark Causey's shorts et al, but lets keep our feet on the ground and not get carried away. No one (even under the LDCC management committee) ever got promoted at the end of June. We have 13 tough games ahead in the firsts and 14 in the seconds. Lets all remember the adage, if you mess with the cricket the cricket will mess with you!!

Recognition for the might of ACC at last as Malcolm wins a player of the month award - not before time - although its noted that the presentation will be made by an umpire rather than a committee member and that we are asked to take the photo ourselves!
Secondly, young Steven has been selected for a Comp under 21 side ( me and Norm being unavailable of course! ) against the MCC at Bootle CC on Monday. Well done Superdoof and richly deserved.
Proof that you dont have to leave Ainsdale to get noticed although our profile will undoubtedly be raised by playing 1st Division cricket in 2012.
Good luck tonight and tomorrow lads, I'll be keeping tabs from afar.

Well done to the U13 A team who played their final game of the season last night, they beat Ormskirk in a nail biter, hitting the winning runs with two balls to spare and the last pair at the wicket. That puts them on top of the league possibly sharing the position with Burscough, we will have to await their result and if tied what the league intends to do.
Excellent season and well done all those Under 13 B members who came in to help out last night they made a big impact.

I hope, with fewer than 8 weeks to go, that all Members are working hard at making this a huge success and not working on excuses in the mould of" I'm babysitting the cat" quote, unquote. It would be remiss of me to fail to mention how promising the youngsters I captained yesterday are. Then Wallasey, what a chance for this club to reach a final, does anything else need to be said !
